# Real Cricket Batting Controls Explained
Real Cricket (Real Cricket 20 / Real Cricket GO) uses swipe-based batting for Android. Timing + swipe direction decide your shot, and footwork buttons help you get into position. This guide covers the default touch controls, shot types, and beginner rules.

Core Touch Controls

The game works on **swipe direction + timing** (hit early, perfect, late). Perfect timing gives clean shots; late/early timing leads to edges, catches, or misses.
- **Swipe Up → Straight Drive** (straight down the ground, for full length balls on off/middle)
- **Swipe Up-Right → Cover Drive** (off side, full delivery outside off)
- **Swipe Right → Cut Shot** (short, wide outside off)
- **Swipe Down-Right → Late Cut** (short wide off, finer edge)
- **Swipe Up-Left → On-Drive / Flick** (full ball on leg/middle)
- **Swipe Left → Pull Shot** (short ball on body/middle)
- **Swipe Down-Left → Hook Shot** (bouncer, high short ball)
- **Swipe Down → Defensive Shot** (block good length threatening balls)
- **Tap quickly → Leave the ball** (let the ball go without playing)

Footwork Buttons (Bottom Screen)

These are very important — playing the right shot without footwork will get you out.
- **Forward (FWD)**: Step forward for full-length deliveries (drives, flick)
- **Back (BACK)**: Step back for short balls (pull, cut, hook)
- **Left / Right**: Move across the crease to adjust for wide balls

> Rule: Full length = use Forward. Short ball = use Back. Good length = usually stay neutral or defend.

Shot Power & Timing System

- **Perfect timing**: Swipe exactly when the ball reaches your bat contact zone → best control, less chance of a catch.
- **Early swipe**: You hit before the ball arrives → weak shot, often an edge.
- **Late swipe**: Ball passes you, you swing late → top edge, easy catch.
- Aggressive shots (pull, hook, cover drive) need confident timing; defensive shots need slow, steady swipes.

Special Shots (Unlocked / Tilt Controls)

Some versions let you play advanced shots:
- **Scoop / Ramp**: Swipe down then up, mostly for yorkers.
- **Reverse Sweep**: Swipe the opposite direction for spin balls.
- Gyro option: You can turn gyroscope in settings to tilt your phone for fine shot adjustment (beginners should keep gyro off at first).

Settings You Can Change

Go to Settings → Batting:
- **Swipe Sensitivity**: Lower if shots trigger accidentally; higher if swipes do not register.
- **Timing Marker**: Turn on timing indicator (green zone) for practice.
- **Gyro Batting**: On / Off
- **Button Size**: Resize footwork buttons for your grip.

Beginner Strategy Tips

✅ Watch the ball release first, decide length before you swipe.
✅ Do not play aggressive shots on every good-length delivery; use down-swipe defense.
✅ Yorkers (very full balls near your feet): avoid big shots; defend or scoop.
✅ Bouncers: only pull/hook if you tap Back first.
✅ Practice in Net Session mode repeatedly to learn the green perfect timing window.
✅ Do not swipe too fast; rushing is the #1 reason for getting caught.

Common Mistakes

❌ Playing pull/cut on full balls (no back foot pressed)
❌ Trying to drive short wide balls
❌ Ignoring the timing marker and spamming swipes
❌ Leaving footwork buttons unused
❌ Using hook shot on normal short balls (hook is only for high bouncers)

Quick Cheat Sheet

✅ Up = Straight drive | Up-right = Cover drive
✅ Right = Cut | Down-right = Late cut
✅ Up-left = Flick | Left = Pull | Down-left = Hook
✅ Down = Defend | Tap = Leave
✅ Forward for full balls, Back for short balls
✅ Perfect timing = the key to consistent batting
